Pierre Gasly’s 2026 F1 Monaco Grand Prix podium has been reinstated following Alpine’s successful Right of Review request.
Alpine’s Right of Review request
At the 2026 F1 Monaco Grand Prix, Gasly, who had started the race in P9, had a strong start that led him to take P4. However, the Frenchman was awarded two separate penalties for speeding in the pit lane on two separate occasions. Each penalty being five-seconds.
This demoted Gasly to P7 after the chequered flag, a result that left him frustrated. In response, Alpine had submitted a Right of Review request and argued that the decision cost Gasly his maiden podium of the season.
The initial hearing was scheduled for Thursday prior to the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix weekend, and representatives from every team on the grid were in attendance. It was a successful hearing for Alpine, who were able to provide “new”, “significant” and “relevant” evidence to support their case.
The second hearing was held shortly after Thursday to review Gasly’s penalty. On Friday morning at the Circuit de Barcelona, the FIA announced the results of the appeal. The Frenchman’s initial penalties were all rescinded, and his Monaco Grand Prix podium was reinstated, granting him his first podium of the 2026 F1 season.
