Formula E began its highly anticipated 2025 pre-season on Monday (27), returning to the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia for the first time since 2023. The programme features eight three-hour sessions spread across five consecutive days, providing technical and strategic preparation for the championship’s 10 teams and 20 full-time drivers ahead of the new season.

The Spanish circuit was once again selected for its ideal testing conditions, combining long straights, technical corners and heavy braking zones. These characteristics allow teams to closely evaluate energy consumption, performance and overall efficiency of the Gen3 cars.

During the first official session of the week, held in the afternoon, Porsche’s Pascal Wehrlein set the fastest lap of the day, underlining the strong form of the German manufacturer, which concluded last season at the top of the standings.

Brazil was also represented on track. Lucas di Grassi, driving for Lola Yamaha, finished the day in 13th position, while rookie Felipe Drugovich, making his first official appearance with Andretti 28, ended the session in 19th. The Paraná-born driver, Formula 2 champion in 2022, highlighted the importance of the day for adapting to both the new car and the team environment.

In addition to the main test programme, Valencia will also host the second edition of Formula E’s women’s test this week, following the success of the inaugural event last year. A total of 14 female drivers will take part under the same conditions and infrastructure as the full-time competitors, including Spanish drivers Nerea Martí (Andretti) and Marta García (Lola Yamaha).

On-track activities continue this Tuesday (28), with two further sessions scheduled to begin at 9:00 local time. Teams will remain focused on performance and reliability fine-tuning ahead of the official start of the 2025 season.
