Jack Doohan will continue his Formula 1 journey in 2026 after being confirmed as an official reserve driver for TGR Haas F1 Team. The 23-year-old Australian joins the American squad following a mixed 2025 campaign with Alpine, where he contested the opening six races of the season before returning to a reserve role.
Doohan made his Formula 1 race debut at the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and had been part of Alpine’s structure across 2023 and 2024, contributing through FP1 appearances and Testing of Previous Cars programmes. His move to Haas sees him remain firmly inside the F1 ecosystem at a time when experience and readiness are increasingly valued.
Strengthening the reserve line-up
TGR Haas will now field two reserve drivers for 2026, with Doohan joining Ryō Hirakawa, who has been embedded with the team since April 2025. Hirakawa has already completed multiple TPC tests and FP1 sessions while continuing his full-time commitments in the FIA World Endurance Championship with Toyota.
The pairing gives Haas a blend of recent Formula 1 race experience and endurance racing expertise, an asset as the team prepares for the new technical era.
Proven junior pedigree
Before reaching Formula 1, Jack Doohan built a strong reputation in the junior categories. He finished runner-up in FIA Formula 3 in 2021 and went on to claim multiple victories in FIA Formula 2, ending the 2023 season third overall. The Queensland-born driver is also the son of five-time MotoGP world champion Mick Doohan, though his single-seater credentials have long stood on their own.
Speaking about the move, Doohan said he was excited to begin the next chapter of his career with Haas and to take on the challenge of the 2026 season within a new environment.

Haas looking ahead to 2026
Team principal Ayao Komatsu highlighted Doohan’s experience and commitment, noting the challenge reserve drivers face in staying race-ready while integrating into a new team. Haas sees value in having drivers who can contribute technically, support development work, and be prepared to step in if required.
TGR Haas F1 Team now turns its attention to pre-season testing at the Bahrain International Circuit on February 11–13 and 18–20, ahead of the opening round of the 2026 Formula 1 season at the Australian Grand Prix on March 6–8.
For Jack Doohan, the reserve role keeps him closely connected to the grid and places him inside a team entering a new phase of its Formula 1 project, with opportunities to stay sharp and visible as the season unfolds.
