Stenshorne takes the lead after a busy start
The Formula 2 Sprint race at Spa-Francorchamps got underway with plenty of action, but without any major incidents. Montoya held onto the lead initially, while Martinius Stenshorne immediately applied pressure behind him.
Joshua Durksen showed strong pace from the beginning. Starting fourth on the grid, the Invicta Racing driver quickly joined the battle at the front and overtook Bilinski to move into third place.
Meanwhile, Rafael Câmara also made a strong start. The Brazilian gained two positions off the line and moved into eighth place, entering the points-scoring positions early in the race.
Despite defending the initial attacks, Montoya lost the lead on the opening lap, allowing Stenshorne to take control of the race. Durksen remained close to the front runners, following the leader’s pace and waiting for the right opportunity to make his move.
On lap three, championship leader Nikola Tsolov was running in fifth place, staying close to the battle ahead.
Durksen builds momentum and enters the fight for victory
The race began to change on lap six. After staying within reach of the leaders, Joshua Durksen made his move on Montoya and took second place in the Formula 2 Sprint in Belgium.
Shortly after the overtake, the race was interrupted for the first time. Further down the field, Shields was hit by Miyata and suffered a rear-end slide at the Les Combes corner. The driver lost control of the car and crashed into the barriers, bringing out the yellow flags.
The safety car was deployed on the following lap to control the situation. Noel León, who was running at the back of the field, also retired from the race.
The restart took place on lap eight, with Stenshorne keeping the lead and Durksen directly behind him. The Invicta Racing driver continued to follow closely, while the battle for the top positions remained wide open.
Race control later confirmed that the incident involving Shields and Miyata would not be investigated.
As racing resumed, Dino Beganovic began closing in on the leaders. The driver managed to overtake Montoya for third place and joined the fight at the front.

The battle for first place became increasingly intense in the following laps. Stenshorne attempted to maintain control of the race, while Durksen remained within striking distance, waiting for the perfect moment to attack.

After starting fourth, the Paraguayan driver reached the top position through a series of important moves during the race, taking advantage of the battles ahead and maintaining consistent pace around Spa-Francorchamps.
From that moment onwards, Durksen controlled the race at the front, while Stenshorne and Beganovic continued fighting for the podium positions.
Safety car creates tension before the final laps at Spa
On lap 13, Rafael Câmara continued his recovery and overtook John Bennett, moving into seventh place and securing an important points position.
Shortly afterwards, another yellow flag was triggered after Bennett ran off the track by himself and stopped outside the circuit. With four laps remaining, the safety car returned to Spa-Francorchamps, setting up a dramatic finish to the Formula 2 Sprint in Belgium.
The second restart happened on the final lap. Despite pressure from his rivals, Durksen managed to maintain the lead without major problems and crossed the finish line first.
Behind him, Montoya lost important positions and dropped to ninth place. Nikola Tsolov moved up to fourth, followed by Dunne and Rafael Câmara.
