After his victory during the Sprint race at Monza, Joshua Dürksen claimed a double win at the Temple of Speed with a Feature race win, too. After an intense final lap, Rafael Câmara secured second position, and Noel León completed the podium with a third-place finish.
Messy start for Câmara
Rafael Câmara, who started from pole, struggled at the start. That allowed his teammate, Joshua Dürksen, to take the lead into Turn 1. Further back, Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak had one of the strongest launches and moved up to third, chasing the Invicta Racing drivers.
On Lap 4, Câmara made a move on Dürksen and retook the lead. Meanwhile, Inthraphuvasak stayed in the DRS zone. The two Invicta Racing drivers swapped the lead a couple of times until the Brazilian ultimately led the Feature race again.
On Lap 7, the Paraguayan was the first driver to pit, while other teams were preparing. Alexander Dunne struggled to enter the pit lane, ahead of Noel León and John Bennett. From this point onwards, drivers started making their early pit stops.
As Câmara made his pit stop, he was released right behind his teammate, who became the virtual leader once again. Meanwhile, the championship leader, Nikola Tsolov, was stuck with the pack running in ninth.
Dürksen controls the race
Despite having a quiet first half of the race, on Lap 12, Colton Herta went into the barriers, and that triggered a safety car. On Lap 16, the Feature race restarted, and Dürksen defended his lead in a superb job. Behind him, Câmara was under pressure from Dunne.
Dunne tried to overtake Câmara, but a lock-up had him running wide and instead dropping to fourth as León moved up to third. Meanwhile, Tsolov didn’t make any ground and stayed in eighth.
While Dürksen led with a comfortable gap, further back, Tsolov had a moment with Martinius Stenshorne. At the front, Càmara and León caught up to Dürksen and got into DRS range. On the last laps, Câmara attempted to make one last move, but Dürksen defended.
Ultimately, Joshua Dürksen crossed the line just ahead of his teammate Rafael Câmara. Noel León completed the podium with a third-place finish.
