Formula 2 has announced its new calendar for the 2027 season. With 14 Rounds, the Formula 2 Championship includes two new avenues in Istanbul and New Mexico. Jeddah and Sahkir will also return to the Formula 2 calendar after being replaced in 2026.
The reshaping of the Formula 2 calendar
In 2026, the Formula 2 calendar already included three new venues, with Miami, Montréal, and the brand-new Madrid track. For 2027, Jeddah will return to the calendar in place of Miami, while Canada remains subject to contract. Meanwhile, Barcelona, Spa-Francorchamps, and Budapest won’t be in it. In their place, Istanbul and Mexico City are the new additions.
Bahrain will also return to the calendar as the season opener in March, followed by Jeddah. In April, Formula 2 will travel to Melbourne, and by May they will follow Formula 1 to Canada. From June to September, the European leg of the season will take place, starting with Monaco.
In July, Formula 2 will have the double-header in Silverstone and Spielberg before the summer break. On their return, they will end the European leg in Madrid, and by the end of September they will travel to Baku.
With Formula 1 returning to Istanbul Park in 2027 for the Turkish Grand Prix, Formula 2 will also hold its first-ever round there, too. The event will take place in October. At the end of the same month, the Mexico City round will take place.
In December, Formula 2 will have its last two rounds in Asia, with Qatar taking place the first week of the month. Just like with Formula 1, Yas Island will be the season finale in Abu Dhabi.
The Formula 2 calendar for 2027 might be subject to changes, as Canada is subject to a contract, and Istanbul needs to be homologated by the FIA. The additions provide a more balanced schedule and a reduced gap ahead of the final rounds.
